# Claude Projects Alternatives for People Who Use More Than One Agent

If you use Claude alongside ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor, the alternatives to Claude Projects worth a look keep your context outside any one assistant and serve it over MCP: LotsNotes, Notion, Slite, Perfect Wiki, Basic Memory, Supermemory, UseMyContext.ai and AI Context Flow. LotsNotes is free to start, and Pro is one $99 payment.

Claude Projects is good at what it does: one place in Claude for a stream of work, with its own files, instructions and memory. The catch shows up the day you open a second agent. Codex, Cursor and ChatGPT don't read your Claude project, so the same positioning, prices and rules end up pasted into four places, and one of them is always out of date.

I run LotsTech's agents this way every day: Claude Code, Codex and cloud agents read the same instructions, plans and handoffs from LotsNotes before they work. For this list I read Anthropic's own help center and docs, and each vendor's pricing and MCP pages, on 23 October 2026. Links are at the end.

## What Claude Projects gives you today

From Anthropic's help center and docs, checked on 23 October 2026:

- **Project knowledge and instructions.** You upload documents, text and code to a project's knowledge base and set project instructions. Claude uses both in every chat inside that project. Anthropic notes that context isn't shared across chats in a project unless you add it to the project knowledge, and that Claude can't see the project's name or description.
- **Every plan, with limits.** Free accounts can create up to five projects. On paid plans (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise), Claude switches to retrieval when project knowledge nears the context limit, for up to 10 times more capacity. Pro is $17 a month billed yearly, or $20 monthly.
- **Sharing on Team and Enterprise only.** Members get "Can view" or "Can edit", and a project can be private or visible to the whole organization. Chats inside a shared project stay private unless you share them. Team starts at $20 per standard seat a month billed yearly ($25 monthly).
- **Project memory.** Each project has its own memory. Claude uses it alongside your account memory, never another project's, and you can switch off "Use account memory" to keep a project fully separate.
- **A new version in beta.** Anthropic is rolling out a new kind of project in Claude Code for some Pro and Max users: one conversation that splits work into parallel cloud threads, each starting with the project's files, repositories, instructions and memory. It isn't offered on Team or Enterprise yet.

Every one of those features lives inside Claude. Anthropic's pages describe project knowledge being used in that project's chats and threads; none of them describes a way for ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor to read it. If Claude is the only assistant you use, that's fine. If it isn't, you need the context somewhere every agent can reach.

## 1. LotsNotes: business context every agent reads first

LotsNotes holds the context your agents need and nothing else: what you sell, who it's for, how you sound, the rules and the decisions. You organize it in workspaces and folders, a folder per product, client or agent. Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor connect to `https://api.lotsnotes.com/mcp` and sign in with OAuth. Cloud agents and your own scripts use the REST API with a key.

Where it differs from a Claude project:

- **Every agent reads the same notes.** Change a price on lotsnotes.com, and Claude, Codex and Cursor all read the new one on their next look. Nothing to re-upload per assistant.
- **Instructions in one place.** A note titled `AGENTS.md` holds the instructions an agent reads first. At workspace level it reaches every folder; a folder can carry its own for one client or product. When an agent asks for a folder's context, it gets the workspace notes plus that folder's notes, each with its lotsnotes.com link, and reads only what the task needs.
- **Teammates without a Team plan.** Pro gives unlimited team members with roles: owners, admins and members edit, viewers read, and a member can be limited to selected folders. Your teammates can use whichever assistant they like.
- **Private notes agents never see.** Every note is shared or private. A private note stays on lotsnotes.com and is never returned through MCP or the API.
- **Edits you can undo.** Every save keeps a version your agent can list and restore. I covered the safety side in [Is LotsNotes safe?](https://lotsnotes.com/blog/is-lotsnotes-safe)
- **Pay once.** Free covers one person: 1 workspace, 3 folders, unlimited notes and checklists, MCP and REST. LotsNotes Pro is one payment of $99 for unlimited workspaces, folders and team members. It's also included while you have a Pro or Business plan of LotsSocial, LotsBlog, LotsTeam, LotsCRM, LotsInvoice, LotsBusiness or LotsStore. See [pricing](https://lotsnotes.com/pricing).

LotsNotes has no AI of its own and doesn't remember on its own: your agent reads and writes the notes, and you edit them in the dashboard. Choose it if what you want is one short, current set of business facts that every agent and every teammate reads.

## 2. Notion: your whole workspace, over MCP

Notion's hosted MCP server at `https://mcp.notion.com/mcp` signs in with OAuth, and Notion's guide covers Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Devin and other MCP clients. Notion says it works on every plan. Your agent searches, reads, creates and updates pages and databases with your permissions. Agents that can't open a browser need an MCP token, which a workspace owner creates on Business or Enterprise.

Notion has a Free plan. Plus is $10 and Business $20 per member a month, billed yearly.

Choose Notion if your docs, projects and databases already live there and you want agents working across all of it. If you want a smaller set of notes just for agents next to Notion, see [Notion MCP alternatives](https://lotsnotes.com/blog/notion-mcp-alternatives).

## 3. Slite: a team knowledge base with approvals for agent edits

Slite's MCP server at `https://api.slite.com/mcp` signs in with OAuth and inherits the signed-in person's permissions. Your agent can search your docs and connected sources and read, write, create and organize docs. Slite says any write action can be queued for human approval. It names Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini and Codex as clients.

MCP and API access start on Basic at $10 per user a month billed yearly; Pro at $20 adds the Slite Agent and search across connected tools. There's a 14-day trial, no card.

Choose Slite if your team wants verified docs and a review step before an agent's edits land. I compared the two in [LotsNotes vs Slite](https://lotsnotes.com/blog/lotsnotes-vs-slite).

## 4. Perfect Wiki: SOPs and FAQs for Microsoft Teams companies

Perfect Wiki runs a remote MCP server at `https://api.perfectwiki.xyz/mcp` with OAuth. At sign-in each person picks read only or read and write, and which knowledge bases the assistant can reach. Its setup guides cover Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor and more. Perfect Wiki says the MCP server is included in every plan.

Basic is $12 per editor a month billed yearly; readers are unlimited and free. A 14-day trial needs no card. Perfect Wiki takes its user lists from your Microsoft Teams teams.

Choose Perfect Wiki if your company already runs on Microsoft Teams and wants policies that ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot answer from.

## 5. Basic Memory: a Markdown knowledge graph you own

Basic Memory keeps your notes as plain Markdown files with a full-text, semantic and knowledge-graph index on top. It works with Claude, Codex, Cursor, Obsidian and VS Code over MCP.

The app is open source (AGPL-3.0) and free on your own machine. Cloud sync is $15 per seat a month on Team, with volume pricing from 10 seats, and $30 on Business with SSO and audit logs. Each cloud plan starts with a 7-day trial.

Choose Basic Memory if you want your context in files you own and a graph your agent can traverse.

## 6. Supermemory: memory that updates itself

Supermemory's MCP server at `https://mcp.supermemory.ai/mcp` signs in with OAuth; you choose which spaces each client can reach. The assistant can search memory, save new memories, forget outdated ones and read stored documents. Supermemory extracts memories from what you save, links them, updates them when facts change and lets them expire. It names Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor as clients.

Pricing is credits: Free comes with $5 of credits a month, and Pro is $19 a month with $20 of credits included and 3 team seats. Calls draw from the balance at the same rates on every plan.

Choose Supermemory if you'd rather the memory maintain itself than edit notes by hand.

## 7. UseMyContext.ai: one personal profile for every assistant

UseMyContext holds one person's profile, facts and files and serves them over MCP at `https://mcp.usemycontext.ai/mcp`. It's listed in Claude's connector directory and ChatGPT's plugin directory, and its docs cover Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI and more. The connection is read-only: the one write tool files a suggested update that waits for your approval in the app.

Free gives 2 projects and 20 MB. Premium is $20 a month for 10 projects and 100 MB. Team is $100 a month for up to 20 seats with a shared team context.

Choose UseMyContext if what you want every assistant to know is mostly about you, and you want to approve every change.

## 8. AI Context Flow: a browser extension plus MCP

AI Context Flow saves context into memory spaces, one per project or client, with version history and sharing by link. A Chrome extension brings it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok on the web; an MCP server at `https://app.plurality.network/mcp` serves the same memory to Cursor, Claude Code and other clients. The MCP server is free on every plan, with OAuth or personal access tokens.

There's a Free plan. Plus is $99 a year and Pro $199 a year.

Choose AI Context Flow if you work mostly in AI chat websites and want the same memory pasted in with one click.

## Keep Claude Projects, and point it at shared notes

You don't have to give up Claude Projects. Anthropic's pricing page lists connectors on every Claude plan, Free included, so a project can read shared notes too. Keep the project for chats, files and work that only matters in Claude, and keep business context in LotsNotes, where Codex, Cursor and ChatGPT read the same thing.

Connect LotsNotes in Claude (Customize, Connectors, Add custom connector, paste `https://api.lotsnotes.com/mcp`), then put one line in the project instructions:

```
Before answering anything about the business, use LotsNotes: read the
workspace AGENTS.md note and the "Clients / Example Co" folder.
```

To move what's in a project today, paste your project instructions and the key files into a chat and ask:

```
In LotsNotes, create a folder called "Company" in my workspace. Save
the brand voice, pricing and positioning text above as three shared
notes there, and save the project instructions as a workspace note
titled AGENTS.md. List what you created with the LotsNotes links.
```

The agent uses LotsNotes' create folder and create note tools, and each note comes back with its link so you can check it. In Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, add the same server URL and they read the same notes. Setup for each client is on [lotsnotes.com/mcp](https://lotsnotes.com/mcp), and the walkthrough is in [how to connect Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor to LotsNotes](https://lotsnotes.com/blog/connect-claude-chatgpt-codex-cursor-to-lotsnotes).

## How to choose

- **One short set of business facts that every agent and teammate reads, private notes kept out, one payment:** LotsNotes.
- **Your docs and databases already live in Notion:** Notion.
- **A team wiki with a review step for agent edits:** Slite.
- **A company on Microsoft Teams that wants assistants to answer from policies:** Perfect Wiki.
- **Files you own, with a graph on top:** Basic Memory.
- **Memory that extracts and updates itself:** Supermemory.
- **Context about you, approved change by change:** UseMyContext.ai.
- **Mostly AI chat websites, through a browser extension:** AI Context Flow.

Agencies: give each client its own folder so assistants never mix brands. I wrote that setup up in [how agencies keep each client's context separate](https://lotsnotes.com/blog/keep-client-context-separate-chatgpt-claude-codex).

## Common questions

### What is the best alternative to Claude Projects?

It depends on what you want other agents to read. For shared business context that Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor all read over MCP, LotsNotes is free to start and Pro is $99 once. Notion and Slite suit teams that want a full wiki, and Supermemory and Basic Memory suit people who want memory that builds itself or lives in their own files.

### Can ChatGPT or Codex read my Claude Projects?

Anthropic's help pages describe project knowledge, instructions and memory being used inside Claude, in that project's chats and threads. They don't describe a way for ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor to read them. To give every agent the same context, keep it in a tool they can all reach over MCP or an API.

### Can I share a Claude project with my team?

On Team and Enterprise plans, yes, with "Can view" or "Can edit" access. On Free, Pro and Max, projects aren't shared. Chats inside a shared project stay private unless you share them.

### Is there a free alternative to Claude Projects?

Yes. LotsNotes is free for one person with 1 workspace, 3 folders, unlimited notes and MCP and REST access. Notion has a Free plan with MCP, Basic Memory is free on your own machine, and UseMyContext.ai, Supermemory and AI Context Flow have free plans with limits.

### Should I stop using Claude Projects?

No. Keep projects for work that only matters in Claude, and put the context every agent needs in a shared place. Connectors work on every Claude plan, so a project can read LotsNotes with one line in its instructions.

### How do I move my Claude project into LotsNotes?

Connect LotsNotes in Claude, paste your project instructions and key files into a chat, and ask the agent to save them as notes in a folder, with the instructions as a workspace note titled AGENTS.md. Each note comes back with its link so you can check it.
