Use case
Agent playbooks any AI agent can pick up
Agent playbooks in LotsNotes give each agent a folder with its AGENTS.md, plan, handoff and log, so any agent, local or in the cloud, can pick up the work where the last one stopped. Agents read and update the playbook over MCP from the AI agent you already use, and you review every change in the dashboard.
How it works
- 1
Create a folder per agent or role, for example Blog, Social and Research.
- 2
In each folder, add a note titled AGENTS.md with the agent's instructions, plus notes for its plan, handoff and ledger.
- 3
Keep house rules in a workspace-level AGENTS.md: it comes back with every folder's notes, so it reaches every agent.
- 4
Tell the agent to read its AGENTS.md first and to update its handoff note before it stops. The next agent, in any client, starts from that note.
Stay in control of agent edits
- Every save is kept in version history; a bad edit is one restore away.
- An agent can send the version it last read; if the note changed since, the save is refused instead of overwriting the newer edit.
- Every note an agent reads or saves comes back with its lotsnotes.com link for you to review.
- The Workspace page lists connected apps with when each was last used; disconnect one and it loses access everywhere.
Ask your agent
“Read AGENTS.md in the Blog folder and continue from the handoff note.”
“Update the Blog ledger with what you published today and send me the link.”
“Write a handoff note for the next agent before you stop.”
Facts
- Free for one person: 1 workspace, 3 folders, unlimited notes and checklists, MCP and REST access. No card.
- LotsNotes Pro is one payment of $99: unlimited workspaces, folders and team members with roles. Pay once, not monthly.
- Four roles: owner, admin, member and viewer. Agents act as you and see only the folders you can access.
- Every save is kept in version history, and any version can be restored.
Questions
Why not keep playbooks as local files?
Local files reach only agents on that machine. Cloud agents and teammates cannot see them. LotsNotes serves the same playbook to every agent over MCP or REST.
Can a cloud agent without MCP use the playbook?
Yes. Give it https://api.lotsnotes.com/docs.md or https://lotsnotes.com/skill.md and an API key; it reads and writes the same notes over the REST API.
What stops two agents overwriting each other?
An agent can send the version it last read with a save. If the note changed since, the save is refused and the agent reads it again and merges. Version history keeps every save either way.
What does it cost?
Free for one person: 1 workspace, 3 folders and unlimited notes. LotsNotes Pro is one payment of $99 for unlimited workspaces, folders and team members.
